After studying medicine and obtaining his doctorate at the University of Ulm, he moved to the university hospital in Erlangen. There he completed his entire medical education and in 2014 was appointed senior physician. As part of his job, he supervised and assisted in numerous cardiac catheterisations and stent implantations for years and was also in charge of the cardiological intensive care unit, cardiac outpatient department and the echocardiographic laboratory. He also carried out pacemaker and defibrillator check-ups, sonography, X-ray and other medical examinations. His main research focus was on modern cardiac imaging using cardiac computed tomography. Dr. Gauss has written several scientific articles and participated in international conferences. In 2016, the German Society of Cardiology awarded him the additional qualification Level III (highest level) granted. Dr. Gauss lives in Nuremberg/ Altenfurt, is married and has 2 daughters.
